Technical notes and data

Olympus OM-4T, Tamron 400 mm f/4 SP, Provia 100F, at 1/500 s, f/8.

Panned using a fluid video head on a tripod.  Exposure preselected, manual exposure setting.  Made at the biennial airshow at NAS Fort Worth JRB (Joint Reserve Base - formerly Carswell AFB).  This airshow was not held in 2002 due to security concerns but is planned for 2003, the centennial year of the Wright Brothers first flight.

Return

Olympus OM-4T, Tamron 400 mm f/4 SP, Provia 100F, at 1/125 s, f/16.

Shot using a fluid video head on a tripod.  Exposure preselected, manual exposure setting. An exposure of 1/125 was selected to blur the rotor blades to more closely match normal perception of helicopter motion. Made during the photo shoot held for the second International Symposium of Aviation Photography (ISAP-II) in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains in Arizona.

Return

Olympus OM-2, Zuiko 300 mm f/4.5, Kodachrome 64, at 1/500 s, f/5.6-8.

Shot from a tripod.  Exposure preselected, manual exposure setting.  Autofocus cameras in use by my companions had great difficulty focusing on this IR signature-suppressed aircraft.  Shot at the first public display of the B-2 outside of California; at the now-closed NAS Dallas for the employees of LTV Aerospace who built the largest section of the airframe in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Return

Olympus OM-2, Zuiko 300 mm f/4.5, Kodachrome 64, at 1/500 s, f/5.6-8.

Cropped detail from the full frame image.

Return

Olympus OM-4T, Tamron 400 mm f/4 SP with Olympus 1.4X-A, Provia 100F.

Shot through fronds isolating one of three juveniles barn owls perched in the palm tree. El Canelo Ranch, near Raymondville, Texas.

Return

Olympus OM-2, Zuiko 75-150 mm f/4 zoom, Kodachrome 64.

Winter beach scene on San Juan Island, Washington.

Return

Olympus OM-2, Zuiko 50 mm f/1.4 SC, 25A (deep red) filter, Kodak High Speed Infrared film.  Developed in HC-110 dilution B and scanned on a Nikon LS-30.

Audubon group at Dugout Wells, Big Bend National Park, Texas.

Return

Olympus OM-2, Zuiko 100 mm f/2.8, at f/5.6, black Tiffen Softnet filter, Kodachrome 64.

From a test shoot for this Dallas fashion model whose name escapes me now.  This wonderful location, an abandoned and overgrown farm southwest of Dallas, is now a golf course.

Return

Olympus OM-2, Zuiko 24 mm f/2.8, 25A (deep red) filter, Kodak High Speed Infrared film.  Developed in HC-110 dilution B and scanned on a Nikon LS-30.

Shot on a special photographers' tour of the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMARC) at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, Arizona.  A ghostly fleet of partially-stripped Stratofortresses in the desert support maintenance of the few remaining active Bufs.

Return

Olympus OM-4T, Zuiko 24 mm f/2.8, Provia 100F.

Handheld shot, wide open.

Return

Olympus OM-2, Zuiko 100 mm f/2.8,  Kodachrome 64.

Return

Olympus OM-4T, Sigma 70-210 mm f/2.8 APO zoom, Provia 100F.

From a series of shots of re-enactors gathered at Jamestown Historical Park, Virginia.  All handheld, and my first use of this fine lens and Fuji's then new version of Provia professional slide film.  Provia 100F has since become my standard slide stock.
